THE BOYS REPORT: January 19-20 at Southwest Classic: The weather was none to kind to the annual Southwest Classic as all of the Saturday evening finals, as well as the Sunday prelims at Milford were cancelled. That led to all of the preliminary marks being used as part of a timed final across all sites. As a team, the Eagles placed 11th among the 38 squads that scored points.

That led to all of the preliminary marks being used as part of a timed final across all sites. Unfortunately for the Eagles, none of their swimmers posted a time that earned points.

BABINEC SCORES WELL AT PRO SERIES EVENT: Senior Tyler Babinec had a successful performance at the first Pro Swim Series meet of 2019 at the University of Tennessee. Competing in five events, Babinec placed among the top-25 swimmers in four races, including a best of 12th in the 100 breaststroke.
Representing the Mason Manta Rays club, Babinec took to the UT pool to participate against some of the nation’s best. His best swim of the meet came in the 100 breast when he stopped the clocks in 1:03.96 to place 12th. He also grabbed a top-15 in the 50 breast, placing 14th in 29.22.
In the 200 breast, Babinec took 18th in 2:23.76. His other finishes were 23rd in the 200 IM (2:16.90) and 29th in the 50 free (24.67).
