Milford Track and Field Teams at OHSAA Districts This Week

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  The OHSAA Division I Boys and Girls District Track Tournament will take place at Mason High School on Wed., 5/15 and Fri., 5/17.

Wednesday schedule:  Field events begin at 4:00 pm; running events begin at 5:00 pm.

The following events will be FINALS, with the top four qualifying for the regional meet:

Boys:  4x800 meter relay, pole vault, long jump, discus

Girls:  4x800 meter relay, high jump, shot put

Friday’s schedule:  Field events begin at 5:00 pm; running events begin at 6:30 pm

Field events include boys high jump and shot put, and girls pole vault, long jump and discuss. 

Schools competing in the girls track and field events at the Mason location include Anderson, Goshen, Kings, Little Miami, Loveland, Mason, Milford, Princeton, Sycamore, Turpin, Walnut Hills, West Clermont, Western Brown, and Withrow.

A look back at the 2018 District Meet:  Andrea Armstrong placed fourth in the 400 meter dash at Districts, qualifying for the 2018 Regionals. In a meet where the top four of each event qualify, Milford had a number near misses. 

Current girls team members who placed in the top ten include: Andrea Armstrong (4th place, 400 meter dash, 7th place, 200 meter dash); Haley Rodeffer (7th place, 100 meter hurdles, 8th place, 300 meter hurdles; Emma Beck (8th place, 3200 meter run); Madison Chitwood (9th place, high jump); Olivia Loeffler (9th place, 800 meter run); Julia Miller (8th place, high jump); Emma Neal (9th place, discus); Girls 400 Meter Relay (7th place); and Girls 800 Meter Relay (7th place). 

On the boys side, A.J. Dickerson finished 6th in the 800 meter run, while the Boys 3200 meter relay finished in 8th place.

 

A LOOK BACK: May 8 and 10 at Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championships

The Milford girls track and field team took fifth place at the 2019 Eastern Cincinnati Conference, while the boys team placed seventh.

Andrea Armstrong set a new Milford girls track and field record in the 400 meter dash, not once but twice.  After setting another new record of 57.95 in the preliminary heat, she again broke her own record in the finals; the record now stands at 57.41.

Emmy Sager set a new school record as well, this one in the 3200 meter run.  Sager, a freshman, finished the run in a new record time of 11:13.95, which was also good for 4th place.

Armstrong took the title in the 400 meter dash, her second consecutive individual championship. The senior finished her final conference championship meet on the podium in three of her four events.  She finished 2nd in long jump, 3rd place in the 200 meter dash, and 4th in the 100 meter dash.

The boys 4x200 relay stood on the podium, as well.  Teammates A.J. Dickerson, Dustin Laudermilk, Jared Engelman, and Dylan Hughes finished the relay in 1:32.82, good for second place and less than a second from breaking a boys school record.
