NEW ERA STARTS FOR GIRLS GOLF SQUAD THIS FALL

SETTING THE SCENE: The Milford High School girls golf program will being a new era this fall as Matt Thompson has taken over as head coach for the retired Sandy Garrison. Thompson, who takes over the program after spending the last several years as the MHS boys junior varsity golf coach, inherits a program that has won three of the last four Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championships.

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday, Aug. 9 at Sycamore Invitational, Waldon Ponds Golf Course, 8 a.m.
  • Thursday, Aug. 11 at ECC Preseason Tournament, Waldon Ponds Golf Course, 8 a.m.
  • Friday, Aug. 12 vs. Oak Hill, Deer Track Golf Course, 10 a.m.
    • 2015 Dual Record: N/A
    • Top Returning Player: Karly Egbers (42.4 average)

A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: This year’s flock of Eagles figures to be led by returning All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference first team selection, junior Casey Broxterman. As a first-year varsity player last season, Broxterman finished 11th at the ECC Tournament and was the league’s 13th ranked player with a nine-hole average of 50.4. The other key returnee from last year’s ECC runner-up squad is sophomore Bre Severns, the 18th ranked player in the ECC last year who earned the same finish at the league championship tournament. The balance of the roster is comprised of varsity newcomers in Alyssa Campbell, Morgan Clawson, Megan Lafrance and Megan Loux.
