Opportunity Awaits MHS Boys Bowling In Battle For ECC

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Eagles will have the opportunity to make strides in their quest for first place in the ECC this week.  Milford will take on the Glen Este Trojans, who are tied for first with Kings.  Two wins over Loveland and a good showing at the Holiday Classic should add to the Eagles’ confidence in the week ahead.

 

A LOOK BACK:  Milford improved to 2-1 on 12/5 with a 2292-2044 win over Loveland behind Noah Dolezal's 407 series and the Eagles’ high game of 240.  Josh Cooper added a 330 series.  Eugene Koczwara contributed the second highest game for Milford, 191 in game two, while Manny Fernandez’s 182 in game one help the Eagles to victory.

Cooper's 259 in game two led Milford to the sweep of Loveland with a 2460-2239 win on 12/7.  Dolezal averaged a 211, and Nathan McGeorge had a high series of 340.  In game one, Fernandez contributed a 164, and Jeremiah Mitchell added a 137 in game two.

The MHS boys bowling squad took part in the Annual Holiday Classic on Sunday, at the historic Western Bowl.  The Eagles placed 13th overall of 34 teams from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee.  McGeorge guided the Eagles with a 209.7 average and a three game series of 629.  Dolezal posted the high game for the Eagles (236) and a three game average of 205.7.  Cooper added a three game series of 564, and Fernandez (159) and Koczwara (181) each added a game in the tournament.

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles will have the opportunity to move up in the ECC standings as they take on the Glen Este Trojans, who are just one game ahead of Milford and are tied for first with Kings.

  • Wednesday, 12/14:                Glen Este HS @ Milford, Eastgate Lanes, 3:30 pm
    • Thursday, 12/15            Milford @ Elder HS, Western Bowl, 3:30 pm

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Glen Este and Kings, both 4-0 in the ECC, sit atop the conference standings.  Milford follows at 3-1, and Walnut Hills is 2-2.   Anderson, Loveland, and Turpin are all 1-3, and Withrow is 0-4. 

Cooper, Dolezal and McGeorge of Milford are currently ranked near the top of the conference standings and are among the individual leaders in the ECC.

  • Josh Cooper:  high game (2nd – 259); high series (7th – 432)
  • Noah Dolezal:  high average (4th - 197); high game (7th – 240)
  • Nathan McGeorge:  high average (8th – 189.1); high series (9th – 425)

 

POLL WATCH:  Elder retained the top spot in the week three Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll. Mason and Oak Hills moved up and are now tied for second.  Glen Este of the ECC moved up to fourth from sixth, while St. Xavier moved up to fifth.   Milford was not ranked in the top ten but received 7 votes and was joined by Kings (15), Loveland (8), Anderson (7), and Walnut Hills (2).
