Packed Schedule On Tap For Boys Golf Team This Week

SETTING THE SCENE: A week with tournaments at the start and finish highlight a very busy stretch for the Milford High School boys golf team. The Eagles’ busy slate starts on Monday with a trip to Dayton to participate in Kettering Alter’s Invitational. After dual matches against McNicholas and rival Loveland, the Eagles head north again on Saturday, this time to the Springboro Invitational. The action will continue to prepare the team for the 2018 Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championship event on Sept. 27.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Monday, Sept. 10 at Alter Invitational, Miami Valley Golf Club, 11:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Sept. 11 vs. McNicholas, Deer Track Golf Course, 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 12 vs. Loveland, Deer Track Golf Course, 4:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 15 at Springboro Invitational, Heatherwood Golf Club, 9:30 a.m.

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 4 at Turpin: A battle of two of the ECC’s best came down to just a pair of strokes as Turpin squeaked out a 154-156 victory over the Eagles. As has been the case all season, the Horn Brothers led the way for Milford with younger brother Adam shooting a 36, two strokes better than brother, Justin. Cole Watson also broke 40 with a round of 39.

 

Sept. 9 at Hadley Invitational: Rain was the only winner as the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon washed out the Hadley Invitational.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles are again sixth in the Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 10. Mason is the new No. 1 team this week by a slim two-point margin over Lakota East. The Comets took four first place votes to five by the Thunderhawks. Elder, St. Xavier and Moeller completed the top-five in front of the Eagles. Trailing Milford is the ECC trio of Anderson, Loveland and Turpin.
