Pair Of Match-Ups Await Girls Soccer In Last Week Of Regular Season

SETTING THE SCENE: With victories in three straight matches, the Milford High School girls soccer team will be out to improve on its 5-5-3 record this week in the last week of the regular season. The Eagles begin the stretch with a Tuesday night trip to Walnut Hills in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference finale, before heading home to Charity J. Lucas Field for a Saturday matinee against Wyoming.

A LOOK BACK: Oct. 2 vs. Anderson: Milford picked up a key Eastern Cincinnati Conference win, knocking off Anderson by a 2-1 score to improve to 3-1-2 in league play. Senior Ali Kirk scored her team-leading fourth goal of the year, while classmate Madison Chitwood added number three. Junior Tori Kittrell had an assist in the victory.

 

TOURNEY TALK: The Eagles were awarded the No. 12 seed in the OHSAA Sectional Tournament which opens next week. Milford will host No. 28 Edgewood on Tuesday, Oct. 16 with a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Click here for Milford’s tournament bracket.

 

The schedule for ECC teams in the tournament includes: No. 1 Loveland vs. winner of No. 20 Colerain-No. 23 Western Brown (Oct. 20, 7:00 p.m. at Loveland), No. 4 Anderson vs. No. 29 Winton Woods (Oct. 16, 7:00 p.m. at Anderson), No. 11 Turpin vs. No. 19 Seton (Oct. 16, 7:00 p.m. at Turpin), No. 20 Kings vs. No. 22 West Clermont (Oct. 16, 7:00 p.m. at Kings), No. 25 Walnut Hills vs. No. 17 Ursuline (Oct. 16, 7:00 p.m. at Ursuline) and No. 31 Withrow vs. winner of No. 9 Sycamore-No. 27 Middletown (Oct. 16 at TBD).

POLL WATCH: The Eagles finished just outside the top-10 in the final Cincinnati Enquirer Division I coaches’ poll. Loveland was named the poll champions, by just a single point over Fairfield. The Tigers earned eight first place votes to six for the Indians. Tenth-place St. Ursula earned the final No. 1 vote. The rest of the final top-five includes Mason, Mount Notre Dame and Mercy McAuley. The ECC is also represented by Anderson in sixth, with Turpin joining Milford among others receiving votes.
