Postseason Awaits Boys Bowling

SETTING THE SCENE:  The Eagles will end the regular season with an impressive 15-4 overall record heading into the postseason.  Milford will finish 9-3 in conference play and second in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference, an improvement from their third place finish in 2017.

  

A LOOK BACK:  The Eagles finished with a non-league contest with Clark Montessori, and ended the regular season on Feb. 7 with another victory.  Prior to the last match, teammates and fans of the bowling program celebrated seniors Josh Cooper, Jacob Donovan, Rodney Gorley and Nathan McGeorge. 

Nathan McGeorge led the Eagles, with a 244 in game one and 410 high series.  Nathan Hawkins (395) and Josh Cooper (391) followed, while Jacob Donovan (318) and Rodney Gorley (280) each added two games in the final win of the regular season as Milford took down Clark Montessori 2525-2108.

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The team now looks forward to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, to be held on Wed., Feb. 21.  More on Sectionals will be out the week of Feb. 18.

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Some scores remain outstanding, though West Clermont has clinched the ECC title and is currently 11-0 in the ECC. Milford ends the year at 9-3 followed by Kings at 8-4.  Loveland (5-6) is followed by Anderson (4-8), Turpin (3-9) and Walnut Hills at 1-11.  West Clermont (965.1) pulled ahead of Milford (960.7) in the final week for overall team average.

As of 2/12, four Milford bowlers remain in the top ten of all ECC individual categories, with Josh Cooper leading the league for high game, and Nathan McGeorge leading the league in overall average and high series:

Josh Cooper:  overall average (3rd – 206.8); high game (1st - 300); series high (t-7th – 479)

Rodney Gorley:  overall average (10th – 194.9); high game (t-10th – 256); series high (4th – 500)

Nathan Hawkins:  overall average (7th – 197.6); high game (7th – 263); series high (5th – 498)

Nathan McGeorge:  overall average (1st – 213.8); high game (4th - 268); series high (1st – 516)

POLL WATCH:  The final Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll of the 2016-2017 season has been released, and Oak Hills will end the year at the top. Oak Hills is followed by Elder, Northwest, Mason and Fairfield, while LaSalle, Middletown, St. Xavier, Ross and the ECCs West Clermont round out the top ten. Milford just missed cracking the top ten but received eight votes, the most of those not ranked.  Kings (2) was the only other ECC program to join Milford in receiving votes in the final poll.
