Postseason Ends for Girls Volleyball

THE POSTSEASON REPORT:  A win over Middletown moved the Lady Eagles into the second round of the Division I OHSAA tournament.  That victory earned #18 Milford a date with #7 Seton of the Greater Girls Catholic League on Sat., Oct. 20 at Lakota East High School.

The Saints of Seton won the battle to advance, as they defeated the Lady Eagles in three; 12-25, 18-25, 17-25.

Fellow ECC members still alive in the tournament who will play on Wed., Oct. 24:

 #9 Turpin vs. #3 Mt. Notre Dame at Sycamore HS

#16 West Clermont vs. #1 Ursuline Academy at Sycamore HS

Second round losses: #6 Loveland lost to #10 Oak Hills; #19 Walnut Hills lost to #5 St. Ursula;

First round losses: #12 Kings lost to #13 Lakota West; #14 Anderson lost to #8 Lakota East; and #31 Withrow lost to #11 Fairfield.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Loveland has claimed the ECC title following a perfect 14-0 record in the conference. Turpin ended the year second at 11-3, with West Clermont and Anderson tied for third.  Kings (7-7) finished fifth, while Milford and Walnut Hills, both 4-10, end the year tied for sixth followed by Withrow at 0-14.

Attacks:  Erica Sharp (.290)

Service Ace: Julia Gill (39 – ranked t-7th in ECC); Erica Sharp (37 – ranked 9th in ECC); Emily Morgan (36 – ranked 10th in ECC)

Assists:  Abby Thierauf (461 – ranked 3rd in ECC)

Digs:  Morgan (262 – ranked 6th in ECC)

Blocks:  Erica Sharp (57 – ranked 6th in ECC)


POLL WATCH: The final area coaches’ poll has been released, and Ursuline, Mercy McAuley, Mt. Notre Dame, Mason and St. Ursula will end the season as the top five programs.  held their positions. The ECC’s Loveland is sixth, followed by Lakota East, Seton, Turpin and Oak Hills rounding out the top ten.  Other ECC programs receiving votes in the final poll include Anderson (8) and West Clermont (1).
