Posted on: February 6, 2017

SETTING THE SCENE:   An historic season for Milford is underway, and the only question is whether the Eagles will stand alone as Eastern Cincinnati Conference champions.  Two wins over Kings sealed the first team conference bowling championship in Milford’s history, ensuring at least a share of the title.  The answer will come at the end of this week, as Glen Este’s conference competition comes to a close.

A LOOK BACK:  As they have so many times this season, Milford completed the sweep over their ECC competition, this time Kings High School.  In doing so, the Eagles guaranteed themselves at least a share of the conference championship – a first for a bowling team in Milford history.

The first of two wins over Kings found Jessica Haines leading the team to a 2329-1981 victory.  Haines led the Eagles with a team high series of 369; teammate Alyna Hook was close behind with a 362 series.  Mackenzie Mason rolled a new season best game of 204, and Lauren Shelton added a 154 in game two to help seal Milford’s thirteenth win of the season.

Milford celebrated two veteran team members, seniors Alyna Hook and Lauren Shelton at the final home match of the season, on Wed., 2/1.  The team sent the seniors out on a high note, clinching at least a share of the ECC title with a 2278-1842 over Kings.  Hook rolled a series of 335 and Shelton a 181 in game one in front of the home crowd.  Mason took her turn leading the Eagles, with a 357 series followed by Jessica Norman’s 341 series.  Jessica Haines returned to action this week, with a 155 in the second.

A LOOK AHEAD:  Having completed the regular season competition with ECC programs, the Eagles have just a few non-conference opponents prior to the postseason.  This week Milford will be on the road to face Reading High School.
