Rescheduled Game Adds To Busy Week For Girls Lacrosse

SETTING THE SCENE: A game lost to inclement weather last week makes for a busy slate this week for the Milford High School girls lacrosse team as the Eagles will take to the field for three games. After starting 0-2, Milford has won two of its last three. The Eastern Cincinnati Conference slate kicks into high gear this week with games at Anderson (Tuesday) and Walnut Hills (make-up game on Friday) sandwiched around a Thursday affair at Madeira.

A LOOK BACK: April 5 vs. Seven Hills: Freshman Sarah Cardell kept her season-long scoring explosion going with five more goals, but it wasn’t enough as Seven Hills handed the Eagles a 16-8 setback. Sarah Ehrman, Ellen Victory and Sydney Hogan were other goal scorers for Milford. Angel Dominguez and Casey Roeder had two assists each, while the former added six draw controls.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the weekly area all divisions coaches’ poll, sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer and released on April 9. Mount Notre Dame is the No. 1 team, having earned six of the eight first place votes that were cast. Sycamore, in a tie for third earned the other two. The rest of the top-five includes the ECC’s Loveland in second, Mariemont and Sycamore tied and Indian Hill. The ECC is also represented by Anderson in seventh, along with Kings, Turpin and Walnut Hills all earning votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

COLLEGE BOUND EAGLE: Class of 2018 member Ashley Costa has already announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Costa has committed to Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University where she will compete in both lacrosse and soccer.
