Sager Ends Outstanding Freshman Season at OHSAA Cross Country State Championships

Posted on: November 11, 2018

Emmy Sager closed the season at the National Trail Raceway as Milford’s first girl to compete at the Division I OHSAA Cross Country Championships in ten years.

Despite a fall on the soft and muddy course which was flooded just a week prior to force a delay, the freshman pushed through to finish in the top two thirds in a field of twenty teams as well as 36 qualifying individual runners.  Sager ended the day in 111th, with a time of 20:33.9.

Sager was just the fourth girls cross country runner in school history to advance to the State Championships, and the first since Denielle Telting in 2008.  She qualified for the Championships when finished 23rd in a personal best time of 19:07 at Regionals.

The State Cross Country Championships were held at the National Trail Raceway in Hebron, outside of Columbus.
