Despite some great wrestling at the OHSAA Division I District Championship for wrestlers Kobey Bronaugh and Jimmy Murphy, both fell just short of advancing to the State Championship Meet.

Bronaugh opened the tournament with a 0:30 second fall of Northmont’s Luke Holloway, and a 14-7 decision over David Jobe of Butler.  Advancing to the semifinals, he lost to eventual runner up, Sam Glasco from Mason.  With the loss to Glasco he dropped to the consolation bracket, where he fell to Princeton’s Jovan Fuqua, 2-4.  Bronaugh rebounded with a 7-4 win over David Jobe of Butler once again to secure a fifth place finish and a spot as an alternate for the State Championship.

Murphy dropped the opening round match with Blake Biteman of Tecumseh, but came back with two wins in the consolation rounds.  Murphy proceeded with complete control and a 6-0 win over West Carrolton’s James Davis, and a 9-4 over Brady Wilson of Stebbins.  From there, he fell to Nino Salamone of Elder, who went on to finish in fifth.
