Posted on: October 25, 2016

Milford’s boys cross country team finished sixth at the OHSAA District Championship at Voice of America Park, as the top four teams advanced.

The Eagles were led by junior Harris Craycraft (17:15, 30th), who was recovering from a mid-season injury.  Milford’s next four runners finished within 14 seconds of Craycraft; Clayton Virzi (17:18, 33rd), Sean Vonderhaar (17:19, 34th), Luke Schneider (19:20, 35th), and Peter Kroeger (17:28, 37th).   Will Stout and Cooper Stooksbury crossed the finish line together; Stout in 55th (18:45), and Stooksbury with a new personal best of 18:47, good for 57th place.

The Eagles competed in Race B, which included twelve teams.  With five runners finishing in the top ten, St. Xavier claimed the team championship.  With St. Xavier, Lakota East, and the ECC’s Kings and Loveland finished as the top four teams, and all will advance to Regionals.  Showing the strength of the ECC, Anderson finished fifth, followed by Milford.

Dustin Horter of Lakota East won the District Championship in Race B, nearly breaking the 15 minute mark with a 15:02.  Anderson’s Joe Ingram was the ECC’s top finisher in the Division I B race, in 16.12.
