Senior Night Highlights Week Ahead For Girls Lacrosse

SETTING THE SCENE: As the regular season reaches its latter stages, the Milford High School girls lacrosse team will enjoy the friendly turf of Eagles Stadium for home games on consecutive nights this week. The Eagles, who enter this week with a 4-8 overall record, open the week Tuesday night hosting Kings, before coming back one night later to welcome Clark Montessori on Senior Night. Milford’s lone senior, Ashley Costa will be honored for her contributions to the lacrosse program that evening.

A LOOK BACK: April 24 vs. Fairmont: Freshman Sarah Cardell topped five goals in a game for the sixth time this season as her seven markers paced Milford in a 17-2 win over Kettering Fairmont. In stretching her ECC-leading goal tally, Cardell scored seven times, while adding a team-best six draw controls. Sydney Hogan got in the scoring act in a big way with four goals of her own, while Sarah Ehrman and Kayla McCoon scored twice each. The latter’s marked her first two career goals for the sophomore. Megan LaFrance and Ellen Victory also scored in the win.

 

April 26 vs. Turpin: The Eagles dropped to 0-3 in ECC play with a 16-4 loss to Turpin. For the first time all year, Sarah Cardell was held scoreless by the Spartans. Milford’s goals were scored by Angel Dominguez, Sarah Ehrman, Sydney Hogan and Ellen Victory.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the weekly area all divisions coaches’ poll, sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer and released on April 30. Mount Notre Dame is the unanimous No. 1 team this week, with all 12 first place votes that were cast. Mariemont, a tie between Indian Hill and the ECC’s Loveland, along with Mason complete the top-five. The ECC is also represented by Anderson in eighth with Kings also receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

COLLEGE BOUND EAGLE: Class of 2018 member Ashley Costa has announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Costa has committed to Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University where she will compete in both lacrosse and soccer.
