Posted on: May 27, 2022

A total of seven Milford baseball players, including four representatives of the league’s top pitching staff have been recognized as members of the 2022 All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference teams. Topping the list are a pair of junior hurlers, Simon Bargo and Chase Herrell, who both snagged first team honors. Herrell was also recognized by the Southwest Ohio Coaches Association with inclusion on the All-City second team.

Also honored for their excellence were four second team selections: sophomore Louden Hilliard, seniors Brandon Neff and Bryce Perkins and junior Mitchell Rogers. Honorable mention went to junior Brady Bushman.

Herrell was one of the top two-way players in the league, excelling on the mound and at the plate. On the hill, he tied for third in the league with 59 strikeouts, posting a 3-2 record and a 1.92 ERA over 40 innings. At the plate, the Ohio State University commit batted .316 with 10 doubles (good for second in the ECC), one triple and 16 RBI. Herrell is now a two-time consecutive All-ECC first team selection.

After getting a late start to his season on the mound, Bargo was nearly untouchable, ranking second in the ECC among qualifying players with a 0.82 ERA in 25.2 innings of work. He also struck out 34. Just a junior, Bargo is already committed to play collegiately at Campbell University.

Hilliard was another player with great two-way success. Pitching, he turned in a 4-1 record and a 1.31 ERA in seven starts. Over 26.2 innings, he struck out 32. Hilliard came on strong late in the year at the plate, finishing second on his team with a .340 batting average. He had a pair of doubles and stole eight bases.

Neff used his senior season evolve into one of Milford’s top relief pitchers. In a team-best 12 pitching appearances, he went 3-2 with a sparkling 1.24 ERA and one save. Set to play next season at UC Clermont, Neff struck out 29 hitters in 22.2 innings of work.

Perkins went out with a bang, ending his final high school season as Milford’s leader in several offensive categories. He topped the Eagles in average (.367), hits (29), triples (1), home runs (1) and RBI (20). Perkins also tacked on five doubles and five stolen bases.

Rogers also had a breakthrough year, ranking third on the Eagles with a .333 batting average. In his first varsity season, Rogers had 24 hits, including a trio of extra-base hits, 17 RBI and seven stolen bases.

Bushman was another first-year varsity player who finished with a quality season. As a junior, Bushman hit .328 with a double, 15 RBI and eight stolen bases.
