Seven Eagles Earn All-ECC Boys Soccer Honors
A successful fall season for the Milford High School boys soccer team resulted in seven members of the squad earning All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors from a vote of the league’s eight head coaches. Of the seven honorees, Jacob Haskins, Noah Hjelming and Blake Holtman picked up a spot on the all-league first team.
Haskins’ journey to first team honors was an interesting one as the freshman actually started the fall on Milford’s junior varsity squad before earning an early season call-up. A midfielder, Haskins was honored for his defensive prowess. He tallied one assist on offense.
The other first team honorees were also defensive standouts that helped the Eagles to a 10-5-4 final record. Just a sophomore, Hjelming helped key a defense that yielded just over one goal per match. He picked up two assists on offense. In addition to his top-notch defense, Holtman, a senior scored three goals and added an assist for seven points.
While Milford’s defense dominated the All-ECC first team, it was a trio of offensive standouts that picked up second team honors. Sophomores Noah Burnett and Joey Round, both sophomore forwards, along with senior midfielder Trey Smith combined for 25 goals and nine assists during the season. Burnett led the Eagles in goals (12) and points (26), while Round added five goals and three assists and Smith found the back of the net eight times, while tacking on four assists.
Senior midfielder Limo Rustom was Milford’s honorable mention selection for this year after he scored four goals and added four assists for 12 points.
