Seven Football Eagles Named All-ECC

Posted on: November 8, 2021

The Milford Football team has seen seven members of its 2021 roster earn All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honors for their play this season. Headlining the list are a pair of first team honorees in seniors Logan Bartholomew and Tahj Price.

The Eagles were well represented on the second team with seniors Trevor Ings and Nick Klenk, junior Nick Scally and sophomore Tofa Luani all being recognized. Senior Jaxon Stickle was Milford’s honorable mention choice for this season.

Bartholomew closes his career as a two-time all-conference selection after earning second team accolades last season. He anchored the Milford o-line this fall from his left tackle position, helping the Eagles produce one of the top rushing attacks in the league, including a 456-yard explosion against Loveland.

Price was honored for his play as a cornerback, but was also dangerous in the kick return game. From his cornerback position, Price led the Eagles with a pair of interceptions, while breaking up six passes. He also recorded 49 tackles for the year. Price returned 22 kickoffs for an 18.2 yard average and also grabbed a 34-yard reception on offense. He was honorable mention All-ECC last season.

Like Bartholomew, Ings was a force on the offensive line at right tackle. The efforts of the offensive line helped Milford average 145 yards per game on the ground. Late in the season, Ings was pressed into two-way action, totaling 10 tackles including 2.5 for loss, half a sack and a forced fumble.

Klenk played big all season at nose tackle, ranking second on the team with 63 tackles, including eight for a loss. The senior also recorded 3.5 sacks, knocked down a pass and forced a fumble.

Scally patrolled the field from his middle linebacker position, finishing with a team-high 77 tackles. He got 5.5 of those for a loss of yards, including 3.5 sacks.

Luani used his size, speed and power to bull his way to 19 rushing touchdowns for the Eagles, good for second in the ECC, despite missing two full games with injury. He ended up second on the team with 585 yards rushing and was stopped for a loss just once (one yard) on 74 carries. Luani also spent a lot of time on defense at linebacker, registering 45 tackles. Of those stops, 6.5 were for negative yards, including 4.5 sacks.

Stickle was a solid cornerback and dangerous return man on the way to his second All-ECC honor. Defensively, the 2020 second team award winner led the team with 11 pass break-ups, had one interception and 62 total tackles. His two sacks were part of 3.5 tackles for loss.

The Eagles finished the season with a 7-5 record, highlighted by the program’s fourth playoff appearance in the last five years and the second playoff win in school history.
