Six Eagles Earn Postseason Girls Lacrosse Honors

Posted on: May 29, 2018

The Milford High School girls lacrosse team, fresh off just its second varsity season in program history, recently saw six of its players recognized for their play during the 2018 season. Headlining the list is breakout freshman Sarah Cardell, who was tabbed a first team All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference selection and a second team all-region choice by the Ohio Schoolgirls Lacrosse Coaches Association (OSLCA).

Cardell was joined on the All-ECC first team by junior Emily Stiles, while Casey Roeder, also a junior, was an honorable mention choice by the OSLCA. Other Eagles touted by the ECC coaches were second team choices Angel Dominguez and Sydney Hogan and honorable mention pick Ellen Victory.

Cardell burst on the scene in a big way, easily leading the conference with 70 goals, despite missing the final two games of the year. In her 16 appearances of the spring, Cardell scored at least three goals in all but two contests, including a high of eight in a win over McNicholas.

Roeder led her team in assists with 11, including two in a game three times. She also scored a trio of goals. Stiles, meanwhile was the Eagles’ key figure in goal, logging nearly every minute of the season. She would go on to rank second in the ECC in saves with 164.

Dominguez made her biggest impact on draw controls for the Eagles, ranking second in the league with 86. Offensively, the sophomore scored 10 goals and added seven assists. Hogan, a junior, was Milford’s second-leading scorer and tied for second in assists, finishing with 35 and seven, respectively. Her biggest game of the year came against McNicholas where she scored seven goals (for the second straight game), while tacking on two assists.

Yet another junior, Victory, enjoyed five multi-goal games on her way to 20 goals scored, good for third on the Eagles, while tacking on three assists.
