Six Milford Athletes Recognized with All-ECC Honors

All-Conference ECC: Six members of the Milford track and field team received All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference recognition including Andrea Armstrong (first team), and Harris Craycraft and AJ Dickerson, and Manny Fernandez (second team).  Dylan Hughes and Julie Miller were recognized with honorable mention awards.

 

Andrea Armstrong was named first team All-ECC in the 400 meter dash, and second team all-conference for long jump. At the 2018 ECC Championship Meet, Armstrong’s time of 58.00 in the 400 meter dash not only earned her the ECC individual championship but set a new school record, breaking the previous record of 58.20 set in 2006.  She also placed second in the long jump, and third in both the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash.  The junior qualified to run the 400 meter dash at the OHSAA Regional Meet after a fourth place finish at Districts.

At the OHSAA Division I Regional Track and Field Meet, Armstrong’s time of 59.62 in the 400 meter dash was good for fifth in the prelims, where the top two from each heat and the next four fastest times qualified for the finals.  She finished sixth with a time of 58.77 in the finals.

Armstrong earned a number of top three finishes in all four events throughout the season.  She previously was recognized with all-conference honorable mention in 2016 and 2017.

Manny Fernandez was named second team all-conference in his senior season following a second place finish in the 110 meter hurdles at the ECC Championship Meet. He also finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles at the Championships. With a third place finish in the 110 meter hurdles at the OHSAA District Meet, Fernandez earned a berth to the Regional Meet.  His career came to a close at Regionals, where he finished in fourteenth, just .004 out of thirteenth place with a time of 15.51.

Over the course of the season competing in the 110 meter hurdles, he took second place the New Richmond, Milford and Hamilton Invitationals, and third at the Anderson Invite.  In the 300 meter hurdle events, Fernandez finished second at Milford, and third at both New Richmond and Hamilton Invites; he also landed in second place in the long jump at the New Richmond and Milford Invitationals.  Fernandez received honorable mention in 2016.

Harris Craycraft earned second team honors after a second place finish in the 1600 meter run at the ECC Conference Meet.  Craycraft closed his MHS career with a new personal best of 4:29.06 and fifth place in the 1600 meter run at the OHSAA District Meet. 

In addition to second place in the 1600 run at the ECC Championship Meet, he placed third in the 3200 meter run.  Craycraft collected a number of medals in the 1600 meter run, including first at New Richmond and Hamilton, and second at the Milford Invitational.  In the 3200 meter run, he finished in second place at both New Richmond and Milford, and third at the Anderson Invitational.

A.J. Dickerson joins his teammates as second team all-ECC.  Dickerson ran to a second place finish at the ECC Meet in the 800 meter run event.  In the 800, the junior took first place at the Hamilton and Milford Invitationals, and a second place finish at the New Richmond Invite.  He was also a member of the 4x800 relay team that took first place at both the New Richmond and Hamilton Invitationals.

Julia Miller was selected for all-conference honorable mention.  The sophomore took sixth place in the high jump at the ECC Championships, and set a new personal best height of 5-10.00 this season.  Miller’s season results also included second place at both the New Richmond and Hamilton Invitationals, and a number of meets in the top eight.   She finished the year tied for sixth in the ECC standings.

Dylan Hughes – received all-conference honorable mention for 2018.  The junior sprinter, in his first season participating in track, finished fourth in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter dash at the ECC Championship Meet; he was also a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 relay teams that each placed third at the meet.  He ends the year ranked third in the ECC for the 100 meter dash.
