The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that six members of its Class of 2019 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures include: Andrea Armstrong (Track & Field-Northern Kentucky University), Tyler Babinec (Swimming-Auburn University), Katelyn Reynolds (Softball-University of Akron), Erica Sharp (Volleyball-Edinboro University), Steven Lucas Wilson (Baseball-Clark State Community College) and Caitlin Wiscombe (Basketball-Point Park University).

Armstrong has been a star on the track for the Eagles during her career, qualifying for the state meet as a sophomore and the OHSAA Regional Championships as a junior. As a junior, she was the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Champion in the 400 meter dash, setting a school record in the process. Armstrong placed second in the long jump and third in the 100 and 200 meter dash events. She is also a member of the Milford Dance Team.

At NKU, Armstrong will compete for head coach Steve Kruse. Andrea is the daughter of Lee and Karen Armstrong.

Babinec has earned all-conference, All-Ohio and All-American honors during his distinguished career at Milford. He is a multi-time ECC Champion and was the conference's athlete of the year in 2017. He finished fifth in Ohio in the 100 breaststroke as a junior, one season after finishing third in the event.

At Auburn, Babinec will compete for head coach Gary Taylor. Tyler is the son of Jason and Nichole Babinec.

Reynolds was earned first team All-ECC distinction all three years of her career as a catcher. During her junior year, Reynolds led the ECC in both doubles (18) and RBI (44) and was first on the team with a .646 slugging percentage. For the season, she hit .414, adding one triple, one homer and five stolen bases.

At Akron, Reynolds will play for head coach Julie Jones. Katelyn is the daughter of Jim and Sheila Reynolds.

Sharp was a first team All-ECC choice during her senior year, one season after being named to the league’s second team. A three-year varsity letter winner, the middle blocker was sixth in the league with 57 blocks and totaled 267 kills.

At Edinboro, an NCAA Division II school located in Edinboro, Pa., Sharp will play for head coach Missy Soboleski. Erica is the daughter of Bryan and Jenny Sharp.

Wilson has been active in club baseball during his high school career. At Clark State, located in Springfield, Wilson will play for head coach Chase Brown. Steven is the son of Jerry Wilson.

Wiscombe joined the Milford program as a transfer last season and made an impact as a key role player for the Eagles. In 19 games, including three starts, Wiscombe averaged just over four points per game. She finished with two games in double figures including a high of 13 in a win over Winton Woods. Wiscombe also competed in track & field for Milford last spring.

At Point Park, an NAIA school located in Pittsburgh, Pa., Wiscombe will play for head coach Tony Grenek. Caitlyn is the daughter of Jim and Michelle Wiscombe.

These five are the first members of the MHS Class of 2019 to announce college commitments for next year. Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2018-19 academic year as it is finalized.
