GAME REWIND

A back-and-forth battle between Milford and Mercy McAuley finally went the way of the Eagles as they scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out a 12-9 victory. The contest featured multiple big scoring innings by both sides and eight total errors that led to several unearned runs.

Milford scored in the first on a RBI by Katelyn Reynolds, but a pair of errors in the second led to four Wolves runs. By the middle of the fourth, Mercy McAuley had opened a 5-1 lead. In the fourth, the Eagles used small ball to put six runs on the board and take a 7-5 lead. Lilly Copp had the big hit in the frame, with a two-run single, while a pair of MMHS errors contributed to the Eagles’ runs.

The seesaw went back on the Wolves side just a half inning later as they plated four to retake a 9-7 edge. The Eagles did get one back in their half of the fifth with Copp coming through again with an RBI single.

Milford sent nine to the plate in the bottom of the sixth, taking the lead for good. Emily Allphin tied the game with a two-RBI double, but was caught off second base for the first out. The bottom of the order came up big later in the inning, first on a run-scoring double by Brooklyn Stewart and Copp’s third RBI hit of the game.
