St. Xavier, #1 Northwest Await Boys Bowling

THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Milford will start the week with a meeting at St. Xavier, and end the week facing Northwest who will challenge the Eagles and are ranked #1 in the area coaches’ poll as of Dec. 16.  Milford will then be off until the action resumes with a Jan. 3 meeting at New Richmond.

Monday, Dec. 17:               Milford at St. Xavier High School, Stone Lanes, 3:45 pm

Tuesday, Dec. 18:              Milford at Northwest High School, Northwest Lanes, 3:45 pm  

 

A LOOK BACK: December 10 at Milford: West Clermont 2770, Milford 2594

Despite a career best 506 high series and a season high game of 249 from Nathan Hawkins, Milford fell to West Clermont, the current ECC leader.  A.J. Kaylor posted a 353 series and was followed closely by Nick Murphy with a series of 351.  Franklin Abt (174), Kyle Fanning (148) and Nate Fiest (146) each added a game in the loss.

December 11 at West Clermont:  West Clermont 2856, Milford 2559

Hawkins led the Eagles once again with a 404 series.  Kaylor followed with a series of 384 with Abt just behind with a two-game series of 372.  Also contributing for the Eagles with single games: Fanning (164), Murphy (163) and Michael Kow (145).

 

A LOOK INSIDE THE NUMBERS: With the two wins over Milford, West Clermont improved to 6-0 in the ECC followed by 3-1 Kings.  Loveland improved to 4-2 while Anderson moved to 2-4 with a victory over Turpin; Milford and Turpin both fell to 1-3 in conference play and Walnut Hills is now 1-5.

While West Clermont continues to lead the league in team average at 1005.1, Milford’s team average improved to 878.4 which moved them to second from fourth.  Loveland (847.4), Kings (845.9), and Walnut Hills (833.1) round out the top five in the ECC.

A look at Milford’s individual statistical leaders as of Dec. 16:

Average: Hawkins (1st – 212.8); Murphy (8th – 189)

High Game: Hawkins (5th – 257); Kaylor (8th – 241)

Series High: Hawkins (1st – 506); Kaylor (t-4th – 464)

 

ICYMI:  Nathan Hawkins was nominated for the Cincinnati Enquirer Male Bowling Athlete of the Week for Nov. 26.  The senior led Milford to their first victory of the season, a 2505-2486 victory over McNicholas High School.  Hawkins rolled an outstanding two-game series of 451.

 

POLL WATCH:  LaSalle took over as the top ranked team in week five of the area coaches’ poll, released Dec. 17.  Northwest, previously first, fell to fourth with Mason and Elder now ranked second and third respectively.  Fairfield fell to fifth from third.  The ECC's West Clermont is tied with St. Xavier at seventh while Kings entered the top ten and is tied for ninth with Ross.  Milford, who entered the poll at tenth in week four, dropped out of the top ten but received 5 votes. Loveland (3) and Walnut Hills (2) each received votes in the latest poll, which can be found at http://preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.
