Swimming & Diving Teams To Be Well Represented At Saturday’s District Championships

THE BOYS REPORT: February 8 at OHSAA Sectionals: The Eagles qualified seven individuals in 12 events, along with a trio of relay squads at the 2019 OHSAA Sectionals. A look at the Milford swimmers that qualified for districts, with district seed followed by sectionals place:

THE GIRLS REPORT: February 9 at OHSAA Sectionals: A trio of Milford student-athletes, along with a pair of replay squads earned berths in the OHSAA District meet with their outstanding performances at sectionals. A look at the Milford swimmers that qualified for districts, with district seed followed by sectionals place:

 

  • 200 freestyle: Lauren Clark 28th 1:59.72 (7th)
  • 500 freestyle: Lauren Clark 19th 5:22.22 (2nd)
  • 100 breaststroke: Lauren Bell 29th 1:11.10 (7th)
  • 200 freestyle relay: Krieger, Sauers, Bell, Clark 14th 1:45.04 (3rd)
  • 400 freestyle relay: Krieger, Sauers, Bell, Clark 16th 3:53.72 (5th)
  • Diving: Sophie Cooper 12th 340.80 (4th)

BABINEC SCORES WELL AT PRO SERIES EVENT: Senior Tyler Babinec had a successful performance at the first Pro Swim Series meet of 2019 at the University of Tennessee. Competing in five events, Babinec placed among the top-25 swimmers in four races, including a best of 12th in the 100 breaststroke.

 

Representing the Mason Manta Rays club, Babinec took to the UT pool to participate against some of the nation’s best. His best swim of the meet came in the 100 breast when he stopped the clocks in 1:03.96 to place 12th. He also grabbed a top-15 in the 50 breast, placing 14th in 29.22.

 

In the 200 breast, Babinec took 18th in 2:23.76. His other finishes were 23rd in the 200 IM (2:16.90) and 29th in the 50 free (24.67).
