The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that 10 members of its Class of 2020 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures include: Brandon Edwards (Football-Ohio Wesleyan University), Hunter Frank (Baseball-West Virginia Wesleyan College), Hillary Huffer (Softball-Wilmington College), Josi Jennings (Lacrosse-Urbana University), Hunter Johnson (Baseball-Olney Central College), Angela Kapitula (Volleyball-University of Cincinnati Clermont), Tori Kittrell (Soccer-Capital University), Will Naylor (Lacrosse-Transylvania University), Emily Stiles (Lacrosse-Mount St. Joseph University) and Abby Thierauf (Volleyball-Ohio Wesleyan University).

Edwards was Milford’s top performer along the offensive line, earning second team All-ECC honors last fall. He helped the Eagles average nearly 260 yards of total offense and almost 20 points per game.

At Ohio Wesleyan, an NCAA Division III program in Delaware, OH, Edwards will play for head coach Tom Watts. Brandon is the son of Jeff and Mary Edwards.

Frank played his first season of varsity baseball last spring, seeing time for the Eagles at first base. For the year, he batted .281 in 26 games, with a pair of doubles, 13 RBI and 12 runs scored.

At West Virginia Wesleyan, an NCAA Division II program in Buckhannon, WV, Frank will play for head coach Randy Tenney. Hunter is the son of Gary and Christy Frank.

Huffer had her junior season cut short by injury but was a first team All-ECC selection as a sophomore. In 2019, Huffer was 4-4 in the pitching circle with a 2.28 ERA and 50 strikeouts. In her all-conference honoree season, she won 11 games, held a 3.24 ERA and struck out 77, while hitting .300 with 18 RBI at the plate.

At Wilmington, an NCAA Division III program in Wilmington, OH, Huffer will play for head coach Beth Floyd. Hillary is the daughter of Joe and Heidi Huffer.

Jennings has been a regular in the Eagles’ line-up for the last two seasons. As a junior, she scored eight goals, added an assist, gathered 13 ground balls, won 33 draw controls and caused seven turnovers.

At Urbana, an NCAA Division II program in Urbana, OH, Jennings will play for head coach Alyssa Shaver after the program relaunches in 2020. Josi is the daughter of Eric and Amy Jennings.

Johnson has primarily been a pitcher for the Eagles over the last two years, posting a 3-2 record and 26 strikeouts over 20 innings of work. He also enjoyed a decorated football career as Milford’s quarterback.

At Olney Central, a junior college located in Olney, IL, Johnson will play for head coach Dennis Conley. Hunter is the son of Deron and Heather Johnson.

In earning first team All-ECC and second team all-district accolades, Kapitula ranked third among all conference players with 253 kills (a 3.30 per set average), while adding 2.25 digs per game. She finished her senior campaign with 11 double-doubles, including a high of 20 kills against West Clermont and 19 digs vs. Kings.

At UC Clermont, a community college located in Batavia, Kapitula will play for head coach Josh Hamer. Angela is the daughter of Victor and Irina Kapitula.

A three-time All-ECC first team selection, Kittrell was a stalwart of the outstanding Milford defense that allowed just 26 goals in 17 matches and pitched a pair of shutouts in 2019. She also got it done on the offensive end, tallying four assists.

At Capital, an NCAA Division III program located near Columbus, OH, Kittrell will play for head coach Matt Ogden. Tori is the daughter of David and Diane Kittrell.

Naylor was the Eagles’ goalkeeper in 2019, finishing among the ECC leaders with over 200 saves in goal. He also totaled more than 30 ground balls collected.

At Transylvania, an NCAA Division III program located in Lexington, KY, Naylor will play for head coach Terry Justice. Will is the son of Jamie and Darrah Naylor.

Stiles led the ECC with 196 saves from her goalie position. She earned second team All-ECC honors as a junior on the heels of being tabbed first team as a sophomore.

At Mount St. Joseph, an NCAA Division III program located on Cincinnati’s west side, Stiles will play for head coach Paige Apel. Emily is the daughter of Roger and Tricia Stiles.

Thierauf became a four-time All-ECC honoree, earning second team honors as a senior after picking up honorable mention accolades in each of her first three years. Despite sharing time at setter, Thierauf finished seventh in the ECC with 405 assists (4.55 per set) and also added 24 blocks. She finished in double figures in assists in 19 of 25 matches and had a high of 30 in a marathon win over Lebanon.

At Ohio Wesleyan, an NCAA Division III program located in Delaware, OH, Thierauf will play for head coach Kirsta Cobb. Abby is the daughter of Philip and Lisa Thierauf.

These 10 commitments join Zach Byron (Baseball-Wofford University) as members of the MHS Class of 2020 to announce college commitments for next year. Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2019-20 academic year as it is finalized.
