Three Milford Wrestlers Receive All-Conference Recognition

Posted on: March 8, 2019

Three team members of the Milford wrestling squad were selected for the 2019 ECC all-conference roster.  Senior Kobey Bronaugh and junior Max Ward were named first team all-conference, while junior Jonah Fouts was selected to receive honorable mention.

Kobey Bronaugh received first team All-ECC honors for the third time, this year at #138. The senior will leave Milford tied for 2nd in career wins and an 135-28 overall record.  The 135 victories moved him to second which he shares with Kyle Krummert, Class of 2008.

Bronaugh’s outstanding high school career came to a close following his third bout at the OHSAA District Championships; the senior qualified after earning a second-place finish at the Sectionals.  He won his third consecutive ECC Championship and was just the third wrestler in Milford history to claim three conference titles.  He won his third Edgewood Invitational in four years, finished third at the Milford Invitational, and was voted the Cincinnati Enquirer Wrestler of the Week for the week of Fri., Dec. 1.  During the 2017-2018 season, Bronaugh earned his 100th career win, becoming the 7th Milford wrestler to claim 100 victories and the first to accomplish it as a junior.  In addition to first-team in 2019, 2018 and 2017, Bronaugh was named second-team All-ECC as a freshman in 2016.  He ended the year with a 27-8 record.

Max Ward (#132) earned first team All-ECC honors for the second consecutive year; the junior was named to the second team as a freshman in 2017.  With a fourth-place finish at Sectionals, he advanced to the second day of the District Championships before losing in consolation rounds.  Ward won an ECC Championship in 2019, joining just nine other Eagles who have won two or more conference championships.  He took 2nd at the Milford Invitational Tournament, and placed 2nd at the Edgewood Invitational.  Ward ends the season at 29-11.

Honorable mention was awarded to Jonah Fouts (#120).  The junior placed 3rd at the ECC Championships, 5th at the Milford Invitational Tournament, and with a pin over his opponent from Xenia helped the Eagles advance out of the first round of the OHSAA State Regional Duals for the first time.
