SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s season is off to a good start, as the Eagles are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference following week two.  Now the competition heats up in the upcoming week, which will challenge Milford but present an opportunity for the Eagles to notch wins over three of the top ten programs in the area.  Milford may have momentum on their side, as they came away with two big conference wins last week over Glen Este and Loveland.

A LOOK BACK:  Milford headed to rival Loveland Wed., 4/13, and scored an important conference win.  The 2nd doubles team of Reed Spencer/Ben Mason improved to 4-0 on the season with a 2-0 win.  Holden Owens took the victory 6-3, 6-3 in 1st singles, and Jared Gibson won in three sets in 3rd singles.  The 1st doubles team of Logan Chrislip/Zach Jaquillard pulled of a great third set tiebreaker, 7-4, to collect a win as well.

On the road Thurs., 4/14, the Eagles swept the Trojans of Glen Este for another conference victory.  Winners in the 5-0 romp included Owens (1st singles), Gibson (3rd singles), and J.Kendall Morehouse at 2nd singles, as well as doubles teams of Chrislip/Jaquillard and Spencer/Mason, who improved to 5-0 on the season.

Results from the Wilmington Invitation on Sat., 4/16 are not yet available; check back for updates.

THE WEEK AHEAD:  Milford schedule doesn’t get any easier this week, with all three dates including schools all ranked in the top ten of the area’s coaches’ poll.  A win over any of these teams this week will only help Milford improve their season record and move up in the standings:  #2 St. Xavier, #5 Moeller and #6 Walnut Hills.

POLL WATCH:  After two big conference wins last week, Milford sits outside the top ten in this week’s coaches’ poll but did receive ten votes.  Sycamore remains in first for the second week, while St. Xavier moved to second and Mason fell to third.  The ECC’s Turpin, and Moeller held steady at fourth and fifth respectively.  Moeller.   Walnut Hills and Kings maintained sixth and seventh this week, and Anderson fell one position again to ninth.   Loveland (13) joined Milford as ECC schools receiving votes for week three.
