Posted on: May 2, 2022

Milford head baseball coach Tom Kilgore made history during his team’s Monday night 4-1 victory over Lebanon as he earned the 400th victory of his coaching career. Kilgore, who took over the Milford program in 1999, has accumulated all 400 of his wins with the Eagles. He will retire as the Milford skipper at the conclusion of this season.

Kilgore’s list of accomplishments is lengthy and culminated when he was inducted into the Milford Athletics Hall of Fame in 2019. During his tenure, the Eagles have turned in a winning record in 18 of his 22 seasons in charge. Milford has captured 10 conference championships under Kilgore’s watch, with the veteran skipper earning nine conference coach of the year awards.

The early 2000s represented a high point in Kilgore’s coaching career as he guided the Eagles to the OHSAA State Championship Game in both 2002 and 2003. In addition to the state berths, Kilgore’s teams have earned a regional runner-up finish, three district championships (2002, 2003, 2016) and five district runner-up finishes (2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2017).

In 2016, Kilgore guided the Eagles to the regional finals, completing an amazing season with a final record of 28-3.

Over 100 of his players have gone on to play baseball on the collegiate level.
