Tournament, Pair Of ECC Foes Await Boys Golf This Week

SETTING THE SCENE: Coming off a week that featured just a single competition, the Milford High School boys golf team has a full slate of action to look forward to this week. The Eagles dropped their first dual meet of the year last week to Turpin and will look to bounce back with home contests against Walnut Hills and Anderson. The week starts though with Monday’s LaSalle Invitational at the Indian Ridge Golf Course.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Monday, Aug. 21 at LaSalle Invitational, Indian Ridge GC, 12:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 22 vs. Walnut Hills, Deer Track GC, 4:00 p.m.
    • 2017 Dual Record: 1-1, 0-1 ECC
    • Top Player: Cal Bigham (43.0 average)
  • Thursday, Aug. 24 vs. Anderson, Deer Track GC, 4:00 p.m.
    • 2017 Dual Record: 0-0
    • Top Player: Joe Vosel (40.8 average)

 

A LOOK BACK: Aug. 15 at Turpin: The Eagles dropped their first dual match of the 2017 season falling to conference rival Turpin by a 153-176 score. The action was contested at Ivy Hills Country Club. Freshman Cole Watson led the way for Milford, carding a team-best score of 44.

 

Aug. 17 at McNicholas: Milford’s second match of the week fell victim to rain and has been rescheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21 at Stillmeadow Golf Course.

POLL WATCH: The latest area Division I coaches’ poll, released weekly and sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer shows Milford tied for ninth according to the five voting coaches. St. Xavier grabbed four of the five top nods to take first place, with GCL rival Elder earning the fifth No. 1 vote and coming in second. Mason, Lakota East and Moeller round out the top-five. The ECC is well represented with Loveland (6th), Anderson (7th) and Turpin (T-9th), with Kings and West Clermont also earning votes.
