Track & field District report: Armstrong, Chitwood, Knarr and Netzel Advance

The MHS girls track and field team will send four athletes to the OSHAA Division I Regionals following the Division I District Meet at Mason last week.

Sophomore sprinter Andrea Armstrong qualified in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash.  She placed second in the 100 dash with a time of 12.58, while a 25.65 was good for fourth place in the 200 dash event.  

Armstrong will be joined by classmate Madison Chitwood, senior Lauryn Knarr, and junior Emma Netzel and the 4x100 meter relay makes a return to the Regional Meet for the second consecutive year.  Milford’s relay team qualified with a fourth place finish, in 51.36.

All qualifiers will compete at the Regional Meet this week, held at Perc Welcome Stadium in Dayton.  Preliminary events begin on Wednesday, May 24th at 5:00 pm for field events; track events begin at 6:30 pm.  Finals are scheduled for Friday, May 26th.  Click HERE for information and schedule of events.

In a meet where the top four of each event qualify, Milford had a number near misses.  On the boys side, senior Dustin Reynolds narrowly missed qualifying in the 400 meter dash; his time of 51.35 good for fifth place.  Junior Manny Fernandez placed fifth in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.57. 

For the girls, Haley Rodeffer just missed qualifying in the 100 hurdles, placing fifth with a time of 16.75. 

Chitwood placed eighth in the high jump, as did teammate and freshman Julia Miller, both with jumps of 4-09.00. 

The Milford girls ended the team event with an 8th place finish of 16 teams; the boys team placed 13th of 15 overall.
