Turnovers Costly As Eagles Suffer First Loss Of Season

Posted on: September 17, 2022

Kings’ defense was as stingy as advertised as the Knights forced five turnovers and yielded just 20 net rushing yards in handing Milford its first loss of the year, a 41-7 defeat. Leading just 14-7 at the half, Kings poured it on in the second half, scoring 28 unanswered points to pull away.

The game started out close with Kings scoring first on an 80-yard bomb from Will Kocher to Michael Mussari with three minutes to play in the first quarter. Milford answered just over a minute later when Austin Hardin connected with Landen Wisbey for a 29-yard TD pass. But that would be as close as the Eagles would get. Kings took a 14-7 lead into halftime after a second quarter TD run by Kocher, before really turning it on after the break. Kocher threw three seconds half TDs to Mussari and scored a second rushing TD as well to round out the night’s scoring.

Natwan Webster led the Milford ground game with 39 yards on 12 carries, while Hardin connected on 17 of 29 passes for 162 yards. Ashton Warther was his top target on the night, hauling in five passes for 38 yards. On defense, Andrew Littrell led the way with 10 tackles, including a sack.

Milford will look to get back on track next Friday when it travels to Little Miami for a Week 6 clash.
