Two ECC Opponents In Store For Girls Volleyball

SETTING THE SCENE:  Following a week of tough losses to Turpin and Kings, Milford is provided another opportunity to move up in the conference standings.  The Eagles will host Withrow, and travel to West Clermont to face two teams that Milford defeated in the early weeks of the season.


THE UPCOMING DOCKET:  Withrow and West Clermont await the Milford in the week ahead.  Earlier in the season the Eagles easily overpowered Withrow in straight sets, and earned a hard-fought bout on the home court with West Clermont in three competitive games.

Thursday, 9/27:           Milford @ West Clermont High School, 7:00 pm



September 11 at Milford: Turpin 3, Milford 0

Turpin, ranked #9 and the ECC’s second place team, took the victory over Milford, 25-10, 25-18, 25-11.

September 13 at Milford: Kings 3, Milford 0

Milford fell at home to the ECC's Kings in three sets, 19-25, 17-25, 21-25.


ICYMI:  Erica Sharp was a nominee for the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Athlete of the Week for her play the week of Sept. 3.  The senior offensive leader recorded 46 kills and 14 blocks in three games with West Clermont, Anderson and Princeton.


INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  Loveland remains unbeaten and improved to 8-0 in the ECC standings.  Turpin improved to 6-2 while Kings (5-3) added wins last week as well.  West Clermont is 4-4, as is Anderson after two conference losses.  Walnut Hills fell to 3-5 and Milford fell to 2-6.  Withrow fell to 0-8.  Statistical leaders for the Lady Eagles:

Service Ace: Julia Gill (29 – ranked t-3rd in ECC); Emily Morgan (25 – ranked 7th in ECC)

Assists:  Abby Thierauf (297 – ranked 3rd in ECC)

Digs:  Morgan (187 – ranked 2nd in ECC)

Blocks:  Erica Sharp (41 – ranked 3rd in ECC)


POLL WATCH:  Week six of the area coaches’ poll finds the first and second positions shifted yet again, as Ursuline moved to the top of the poll and Mercy McAuley fell back to second, and Mt. Notre Dame, St. Ursula and Mason held at third through fifth for the third consecutive week.  The ECC’s Loveland moved from seventh to sixth, and Turpin remained in ninth. Milford received some notice in week six, receiving 8 votes, joined by the remaining ECC programs including Anderson (15), Kings (14), West Clermont (7), Walnut Hills (5), and Withrow (4).   Click HERE to find the latest area coaches’ poll.
