Two Milford High School Student-Athletes Announce College Plans

The Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that two members of its Class of 2021 will continue their athletic careers on the collegiate level. The student-athletes that have committed to continuing their academic and athletic futures Sophie Cooper (Diving-Ohio University) and Johnny Mickler (Football-University of Dayton).

Cooper had an outstanding junior season off the board, qualifying for the OHSAA District Championship where she finished 11th. She also finished eighth at Sectionals and third at the ECC Diving Championship. Cooper’s high mark of 387.45 was the highest in the ECC last season.

At Ohio, an NCAA Division I program in Athens, OH, Cooper will compete for head diving coach Britni Fisher. Sophie is the daughter of Keith and Amanda Cooper.

Mickler had a solid senior campaign as a regular along the defensive line for the Eagles. In eight games, he tallied 21 tackles, including 4.5 for loss. Mickler tied for third on the team with a pair of sacks, while also forcing a fumble.

At Dayton, an NCAA Division I (FCS) program in Dayton, OH, Mickler will play for head coach Rick Chamberlin. Johnny is the son of Perrie and Kerry Mickler.

Further signee information will be shared throughout the 2020-21 academic year as it is finalized.
