Unbeated Boys Bowlers Face West Clermont For First Time

Posted on: December 11, 2017

SETTING THE SCENE:  The lead for the ECC is on the line this week, as Milford’s boys bowling team will have the opportunity to take sole possession at the top of the conference.  The Eagles are off to a 5-0 start following two wins over Loveland.

A LOOK BACK:  The Eagles pulled ahead of ECC foe Loveland, who were previously in a three-way tie for first along with West Clermont.

Milford took the first of two with Loveland, a 2726 – 2450 win on 12/5.  Josh Cooper's 259 in game two and a 443 series led the Eagles.  Rodney Gorley followed with a 415 series, while Nathan Hawkins and Nathan McGeorge both posted series of 409; Nick Murphy added a 255 series.

Milford completed the sweep of Loveland on 12/6, but it was a little too close as the Eagles won by just 29 pins. A 255.5 average for the day by Hawkins led the Eagles to the 2689-2660 win.  Other scores for the day include Cooper’s 283 series and a 359 series from McGeorge.  Tanner Hall made his varsity debut, and the freshman posted the second highest individual game of the day with a 213.  Gorley added a 164 in the victory.

Six Eagles were part of the action at the Holiday Classic. Cooper was the top Eagle with a high game of 234 and a two game total 439 pins.  McGeorge scored a 411 series, joined by Kyle Fanning (375) and Murphy (360), all contributing in two games.  Two Eagles added one game in the tournament; Gorley a 202 and Hawkins a 167.

A LOOK AHEAD:  Milford will be tested as they meet with the new West Clermont for the first time this season.  The new school combined Amelia as well as Glen Este, who last year shared the ECC title with Kings.  Unless the teams split the two match series, one program will take sole possession of the ECC.  Milford will also see McNicholas (#10, DII poll) in nonconference action before yet another weekend tourney, this time the Wright State Tournament in Dayton.
