UNDEFEATED! Milford’s Girls Bowling Team Makes History

SETTING THE SCENE:   The Lady Eagles have made history yet again.  With a win over Clark Montessori School, the Milford girls bowling team finished with a perfect 19-0 record in the 2017-2018 regular season.  In addition to winning their second consecutive Eastern Cincinnati Conference Championship, they also end the year ranked sixth in the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll.

A LOOK BACK:  The Lady Eagles wrapped up the regular season at home, hosting Clark Montessori at Cherry Grove Lanes on Wed., Feb. 7.  Seniors Megan Cannon, Jessica Haines and MacKenzie Mason were recognized and their senior seasons celebrated prior to the final home match of the season.

With single games of 215 and 191, Reaghan Kaylor set a personal best high series of 406 to lead the Eagles over Clark.  MacKenzie Mason (379) and Jessica Haines (370) followed Kaylor.  Reagan Hodges (201) and Jessica Norman (160) each contributed single games in the final win that clinched an undefeated season for the Lady Eagles as they scored a 2442-946 victory.

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The team now looks forward to the OHSAA Sectional Tournament, to be held on Thurs., Feb. 22.  More on Sectionals will be out the week of Feb. 18.

 

INSIDE THE ECC: With a perfect 12-0 record in the ECC, Milford has secured their second ECC championship.  With a few conference matches yet to play, West Clermont follows at 8-3 with Walnut Hills close behind at 8-4. Turpin (6-6) and Anderson (4-8), Loveland (2-9) and Kings (1-11) round out the ECC standings. Milford’s team average rose yet again to 816.1, increasing their lead over West Clermont’s 761.2.

As of 2/12, five of the Lady Eagles are among the individual leaders within the top ten of the ECC, with Jessica Haines leading the league for overall average and MacKenzie Mason leading the league in high game and high series:

Megan Cannon: series high (t-10th – 391)

Jessica Haines: overall average (1st – 189.1); high game (2nd – 248); series high (2nd – 448)

Reaghan Kaylor: high game (7th – 233); series high (8th – 406)

MacKenzie Mason:  overall average (7th – 172.1); high game (1st – 289); series high (1st – 488)

Jessica Norman: overall average (9th – 160.7); high game (4th – 241); series high (4th – 431)

POLL WATCH:  The final area coaches’ poll from the Cincinnati Enquirer has been released, and Milford’s girls bowling team will end the year in sixth, where they have resided most of the season.  Fairfield jumps from third to the top of the poll, followed by Northwest.  Seton, previously first, falls to third followed by Mercy and Lebanon.  Milford, Middletown, McAuley, Oak Hills and Colerain round out the final top ten.  West Clermont (11), Loveland (4), Anderson (2), Turpin (1) and Walnut Hills (1) each received votes in the final poll.
