Water Polo Teams Host Milford Invitational Beginning Friday
SETTING THE SCENE: With the regular season winding down, the Milford High School water polo teams will be busy this weekend as they host an invitational beginning on Friday afternoon. Teams from all over Ohio will be in town to contest the event, with girls action slated for Friday and Saturday, before the boys take to the water on Sunday.
The regular season will conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 9 when the Eagles welcome Oakwood for Senior Night. That evening, the following seniors will be recognized for their contributions to Milford Aquatics: Felicity Gentry, Evan Higgins, Stephanie Karan, Nathan Klick, Megan Krieger, Natalie Kunes, Carley Mills, Lindsey Schaeffer, Brittney Thomson and Ellen Victory.
THE BOYS REPORT: The boys team has been busy over the past couple of weeks, taking part in the Packer Classic at Princeton over the weekend of Sept. 21-22, while also squaring off with the Vikings and Sycamore in dual contests. The Eagles split four games at the Packer Classic, opening with wins over St. Xavier (8-7) and New Albany (11-4). Day two saw a pair of narrow defeats, falling 8-6 to Princeton and 5-4 to Mason. In the head-to-head matches, the Eagles topped Princeton 8-7 before falling at Sycamore 16-3. The Eagles are owners of a 7-17-1 record this fall.
THE GIRLS REPORT: The girls squad has also played a full schedule as of late, going 2-4 over the last six games. At Sycamore’s Dave McLennon Tournament, day one saw Milford split with Upper Arlington (4-2 loss) and Thomas Worthington (9-8 win). The second day wasn’t as kind as the Eagles dropped games to Napoleon (11-7) and the Cincinnati Mavericks (5-3). Dual action since has seen Milford win against Princeton (9-8) and lose at Sycamore (3-12). Heading into the weekend the Eagles are 9-14 this season.
ABOUT THE INVITE: The Milford Natatorium will be a buzz of activity this weekend with the three-day Milford Invitational set to be contested. The schedule of weekend action includes:
