Week Of April 19 ECC Athletes Of The Week

Posted on: April 21, 2021

Each week throughout the school year, we’ll feature the student athletes nominated by their coaches as Eastern Cincinnati Conference Athletes of the Week. Congratulations to each award recipient!

Ayla Grabenbauer
Milford - Junior
Track
Ayla, a junior, has had a fantastic beginning to her track season in 2021. Ayla battled an injury as a freshman and then with the cancelation of last season has never even run in a high school track meet until this year. Considering all that, Ayla has absolutely become the leader of our girls' distance squad through some trying times. Now she is certainly flourishing! This past week, she won both the 1600 and 800 meters at the New Richmond Invitational in times of 5:27.78 and 2:31.53 respectively. She is currently positioning herself in the top portion of the ECC and looking to compete against the top runners in the area as we move into Championship time. We are very excited to have Ayla with us and cannot wait to see how the rest of the season goes for her!

Grace Mangino
Milford - Junior
Track
Grace, a freshman, is a first-year track and field participant and has loved her experience so far. She has not only proven herself as one of our Top JV runners, she has also started working with the high jump and has PR'd every week. Grace is currently sitting with a PR of 4'4" and is looking at 4'6" in the near future. We are so happy to have someone like Grace on our team. We cannot wait to see her improvements over not just this season but the rest of her HS career as well.

Keisean Irvin
Milford - Junior
Track
Keisean, a junior, has been with us now for three seasons and has improved each year. He runs both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles for the Eagles. Keisean has some of the best hurdle technique around, and because of this he has been a top competitor since his freshman season. This past week, he finished second in both races at The New Richmond Invitational. His current times have him sitting near the top of the ECC rankings. As he continues to work this season, we hope to see him have a chance to battle for the league title.

Landon Forrest
Milford - Junior
Track
This is Landon's first year of track and field. He decided to come out as a junior and give it a try and boy has he shown some great improvements in a very short period of time. Landon decided to give the throws a try this year and in only three short weeks has picked up some of the most technical events in the sport. He is improving each week and is gaining more and more confidence in his abilities. We look for Landon to have a strong finish to the season and come back next year ready to be a major contributor to our throws squad!

Sam Boothby
Milford - Senior
Softball
Sam had a monster week in leading the Lady Eagles to a 6-1 record. For the week, the senior batted .609 (14-for-23) with 20 RBIs in seven games. She tallied a grand slam as well as three doubles. If that wasn't enough, Sam went 4-0 pitching with a 2.10 ERA, hurling four complete games, including one shutout and striking out 11.

Jack Ackermann
Milford - Senior
Baseball
Jack earned his first varsity win in relief this past week against ECC-leading Walnut Hills. Jack pitched three innings, allowed one run and recorded two strikeouts.

Sarah Cardell
Milford - Senior
Lacrosse
Sarah led her team with eight goals, 14 draw controls, five CTs, and one interception through a tough four-game week with games against Loveland, Notre Dame Academy, Anderson, and Lakota East.
