March 5-6 at OHSAA Districts
Seniors Kaleb Gelter and Hayden Harvey each wrapped up outstanding seasons as they competed at the OHSAA Southwest District Championships. Gelter had an exceptional meet, posting a 3-2 record to earn fifth place in the 182-pound weight class. His season could continue as he’s an alternate at next week’s OHSAA State Championships.

Gelter opened the tournament with consecutive pins over St. Xavier’s Joe Cook (1:37) and Northmont’s Payton Lupton (2:20). After falling to Springboro’s Parker Smith and LaSalle’s Chase Stein, Gelter bounced back in the fifth-place match with a 4-2 victory over Colerain’s Khamil Abdul. He finishes the year with a 23-7 record, including 14 pins.

Harvey went 1-2 in the 285-pound class and wraps his senior season 25-7 overall with 18 pins. After falling in his opening match to drop into the consolation bracket, Harvey pinned Walnut Hills’ Dezmond Gayle in 2:22. His year came to a close in the next round against West Carrollton’s Bobby Shaw.
