Wrestling Squad Hosts Goshen On Senior Night

SETTING THE SCENE:  Milford’s wrestling program will look for their second win at home this week as they host Goshen.  Prior to the meet with Goshen, the program will recognize seniors Tre Spillman and Ashley Costa, Erica Mailloux, and Bailey Murphy of the Pinnettes. 

  

A LOOK BACK:  Milford was at home for the first time this season on Thurs., Jan. 11 when they hosted Indian Hill High School.  The Eagles pulled off a huge 38-34 victory over the Braves, who at the time were ranked #7 in the Div. II-III poll. 

According to Coach Babinec, the highlight of the night was the match at #138 by Chad Lynn.  With a lead that changed often throughout the match, Lynn secured a two point reversal with under thirty seconds left and continued to keep his opponent on the mat to secure the team win.

SCHEDULE:  Milford will host Goshen High School this week, a program currently ranked in the Div. II-III poll, this week at #4.  Prior to the Varsity match, the team will celebrate senior Tre Spillman, as well as senior Pinnettes Ashley Costa, Erica Mailloux, and Bailey Murphy.  The Eagles will then head to Mason over the weekend, as they travel to the annual James V. Horning Memorial Tournament.  The 2017 tournament was a successful one for the Eagles, as they placed fifth out of ten teams with three current Eagles in the top seven including Kobey Bronaugh (1st), Derek Elliott (6th) and Max Ward (7th).

  • Saturday, 1/20:            Milford @ James V. Horning Tournament, Mason Middle School, 9:30 am

POLL WATCH:   The top four schools in the Cincinnati Enquirer’s area coaches’ poll remained the same, though the rankings changed a bit.  LaSalle and Elder remain the top two in week seven, though Harrison and Mason are now tied for third. Western Brown fell to sixth, replaced by Fairfield. The ECC’s Loveland rose to seventh from eighth, while West Clermont fell to tenth after ranking ninth in week six.
