Senior Kobey Bronaugh, and junior Max Ward competed at the OHSAA Division I District Wrestling Championship, held Friday, March 1 and Sat., March 2 at Kettering Fairmont High School.   Both moved on to the second day of competition, but fell short of advancing to the State Championships.

In an overtime thriller at #138, Bronaugh lost 10-13 to Middletown’s Aundre Zornes.  The senior rebounded however in the lower bracket with a pin in 1:56 of Nathan Keaton of Springfield.  Bronaugh’s outstanding high school career came to a close following his third bout in Districts, after a fall to Butler’s Matt Verdes, who went on to take fifth place overall.  He finishes the season 26-8.

Ward opened the tournament with a 7-0 loss to Matt Motter of Butler in the #132 bracket. His next bout was opposite Western Brown’s Gage Daugherty, whom he defeated 3-2, followed by a 11-10 victory over Benjamin Whatley of Lakota West.  Ward’s fourth match of the weekend pitted him against Harrison’s Cameron Baird, who ended Ward’s quest for State with a 5-0 win.  Baird went on to win the third place final with top seed Sam Glassco of Mason.  Ward ends his junior year with a 28-11 record for the season.
