Each week throughout the school year, we’ll feature the student athletes nominated by their coaches as Eastern Cincinnati Conference Athletes of the Week. Congratulations to each award recipient!
Track and Field Trio
Freshman Liam Kegley is another one of our freshman athletes who has transitioned from an exceptional middle school career to being a major contributor for us early in his HS career! He has shown his versatility by competing in all the sprint races and relays (100, 200, 400, 4x1, 4x2, & 4x4) at some point throughout the season. As the season has progressed, he found himself as a member of our school record-breaking 4x200 team as his main event. Liam has been quite the addition to our group, and we look forward to him continuing to show us his abilities over the next few years, especially after what he accomplished this past weekend at the Mason Invitational (4x200 school record) and the JV ECC Meet (100 champion, fourth in the 4x1, and third in the 200). Sophomore Audrey Bellar had a standout performance on Saturday at the JV ECC Championship, helping to lead the team to a first-place finish. Audrey finished second in the 1600m while running a new PR, and then came back and finished fourth in the 3200m. This was a tough double, and Audrey did a great job of competing to help the team win. Sophomore Maren Barnett had an outstanding race in the 800m at the very competitive Mason Invitational on Friday. Maren finished second overall, while running a new career-best time. Maren is racing great and is ready for an outstanding postseason.
