Girls Golf Hosts Two At Eagles Nest This Week

SETTING THE SCENE: With the Eastern Cincinnati Conference Tournament quickly approaching, the Milford High School girls golf team will continue its 2018 slate with a pair of matches at Eagles Nest Golf Course this week. The Eagles split a pair of dual matches last week and enter the week with a 5-3 record in head-to-head contests this fall. The ECC championship event is slated for Thursday, Sept. 20 at Walden Ponds Golf Course.

 

THE UPCOMING DOCKET: A look at Milford’s schedule for the upcoming week:

  • Monday, Sept. 10 vs. Wyoming, Eagles Nest Golf Course, 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 13 vs. Kings, Eagles Nest Golf Course, 4:00 p.m.

 

A LOOK BACK: Sept. 4 vs. Turpin: A match-up of two of the top teams in the ECC went to Turpin as the Spartans scored a 174-185 victory at Deer Track Golf Course. Senior Bre Severns was the top player on the day for Milford, finishing with a score of 45.

 

Sept. 6 vs. Little Miami: Milford enjoyed a runaway win at Eagles Nest Golf Course, bettering Little Miami by a 182-251 margin. Senior Morgan Clawson earned medalist honors for the event with a round of 39.

POLL WATCH: Milford continues to receive votes in the weekly Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll, released on Sept. 10. Lakota East and Mason share the No. 1 spot again this week, with the former taking four first place votes, to seven for the latter. Third place Ursuline and fourth place Sycamore each picked up a first place vote, with Mercy McAuley rounding out the top-five. Representing the ECC are Kings in eighth, Turpin in a tie for 10th and Loveland and Anderson also in others receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

 

SEVERNS WINS ENQUIRER AWARD: Senior Bre Severns, thanks to the support of Eagle Nation, was voted the winner of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s Golfer of the Week Award, announced on Sept. 7.
