Girls Track And Field Looking To Set A New Record At Milford Invite
SETTING THE SCENE: One field record fell last week, and one of the relay teams is closing in on setting a new school record. Members of the girls track and field teams are hopeful that record will fall at home this week. After a hiatus, the Milford Invitational returns.
A NEW SCHOOL RECORD: Milford's Clare Cartheuser competed at the Kings Field Event Festival on Apr. 23, where the senior Eagle shattered her own school record from 2015.
Cartheuser’s throw of 127-6 was good not only for first place at the meet, but was the third new record she has set in the past two seasons at Milford. Saturday’s new record bested her previous throw of 122-50 at the OHSAA State Track/Field Meet in 2015, where she placed tenth.
A LOOK BACK: The Milford girls placed fourth of fourteen teams following two wet days of competition at the Anderson Invitational. The dominance of the Eastern Cincinnati Conference was evident, as Milford finished behind Turpin, Kings and Loveland.
The 4x100 Relay of Emma Netzel, Lindsey Lawson, Andrea Armstrong, Alex Evencheck finished in first place, at 51.30, just .20 shy of breaking the existing Milford girl’s record.
Milford athletes who qualified for the final and finished in the top eight of each event were as follows:

A LOOK AHEAD: The Milford track and field teams will be at home this week, as MHS hosts its own Milford Invitational. Schools scheduled to attend for the girl track and field competition include Milford (A & B), Mount Healthy, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, McNicholas, Madeira, New Richmond, Purcell Marion.

POLL WATCH: Mason continued as the area’s top team in the Division I coaches’ poll in week four, but the ECC’s Withrow took over second, and Kings fell to third. Lakota West held at fourth, and Walnut Hill held steady at fifth. Turpin soared to enter the poll at seventh, and Loveland fell to ninth, tied with Mount Healthy. Milford received six votes this week, up from two, and was the only other ECC school to receive votes in week four.
