With the 2018-19 school year nearly complete, the Milford High School Department of Athletics is pleased to recognize eight of its outstanding student-athletes from the Class of 2019 with the announcement of several special awards. The following student-athletes exemplified excellence both in the classroom and in their respective sport(s) throughout their time at Milford.

OHSAA Scholar Athlete Awards

One male and one female are chosen based on their academic and athletic achievements, with special emphasis on the grade point average of varsity athletes.

  • Caleb Cambron – posted a 4.75 cumulative GPA through the first semester this year; earned four varsity letters in boys volleyball; was recognized as one of the top players in the ECC according to the league’s coaches as a junior
  • Ali Kirk – posted a 4.92 cumulative GPA through the first semester this year; earned a total of nine varsity letters (three for basketball, two each for cross country, soccer and track & field); twice earned All-ECC honors for soccer and once for basketball.

OHSAA Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Awards

One male and one female are chosen after earning at least one team Milford Sportsmanship Award for honor, integrity and showing concern for others. The Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award is sponsored by the Ohio High School Athletic Association to promote sportsmanship, ethics and integrity. Our two student-athlete winners this year have certainly displayed the characteristics for which this award was designed.

  • Jared Engelman – earned two career sportsmanship awards and three varsity letters (two in track & field and one in football)
  • Ellen Victory – earned one career sportsmanship award and eight varsity letters including four in water polo and two each in lacrosse and swimming

MHS Senior Athlete Eagle Awards

MHS Most Outstanding Senior Athletes

Every year, one boy and one girl are voted as “Most Outstanding Senior Athlete” by the head coaches of every sport. Number of varsity letters, number of different varsity sports played, accomplishments in their varsity sports and personal character are the focal points of the selection process.

  • Jake Ayler – earned five varsity letters (three in basketball, two in football); twice named to the ECC’s first team for basketball; also a two-time All-ECC choice on the hardwood, including a first team honor as a junior; part of the resurgence of Milford Football, helping the Eagles to back-to-back playoff appearances, the first playoff win in school history and a conference championship in 2017.
