Three Matches on Tap for Boys Volleyball

SETTING THE SCENE:  Three non-conference opponents await the Eagles in the week ahead, including #5 Lakota East.  Milford fell to Loveland early last week, but rebounded with wins over West Clermont and Purcell Marian and sit at 5-2 overall on the season thus far.

 

A LOOK BACK:  The Eagles hosted ECC rival Loveland on Tues., April 10, and fell to the Tigers 1-3.  The Eagles took the first set 25-23, but lost Peter Kroeger to an injury midway through the second.  Though the next three sets were close, Milford lost in close bouts of 22-25, 19-25, 21-25. 

Milford hosted Purcell Marian of the Greater Catholic League, and the Eagles won with a three game sweep of the Cavaliers.  The Eagles easily collected the win on Tues., April 11, by scores of 25-4, 25-12 and 25-10.

The Eagles ended the week on Wed., April 11 for the first conference visit to West Clermont. The Wolves, in their first official year as West Clermont (formerly Glen Este and Amelia schools), are a much-improved team and made Milford earn the 3-0 win with scores of 25-19, 25-14 and 25-16. 

 

A LOOK AHEAD:   The Eagles will host three non-conference schools in the week ahead, including Lakota East who was ranked #4 in the latest area coaches’ poll.

  • Monday, 4/16:                      Lakota East High School @ Milford, 6:45 pm
  • Tuesday, 4/17:                     Colerain High School @ Milford, 6:00 pm
  • Wednesday, 4/18:                Princeton High School @ Milford, 6:45 pm

  

INSIDE THE ECC:  Loveland sits atop the unofficial ECC standings, at 3-0 with wins over Milford, West Clermont and Walnut Hills.  Walnut Hills is 2-1, followed by Milford at 1-2.  West Clermont is currently 0-3 in the ECC.  Find the unofficial ECC standings HERE.

 

POLL WATCH:  Moeller and St. Xavier are tied atop the most recent area coaches’ poll from the Cincinnati Enquirer. Elder held at third, while Lakota East rose to fourth and Alter fell from fourth to fifth.  Though no ECC schools listed were ranked in the top ten yet again, Loveland (12) and Milford (10) each received more votes in the most recent poll for week four.  Click HERE for the most recent area coaches’ poll.

Despite a close loss to Loveland, Milford moved to up to ninth in the most recent OHSBVA for the South Region. Moeller held at first, while Elder moved to second and St. Xavier fell to third.  Oak Hills moved up to fourth from fifth, and Loveland took over the fifth position, up from eighth.  Fairfield, LaSalle, Mason, Milford and Sycamore round out the top ten.
