Week Of January 11 ECC Athletes Of The Week

Each week throughout the school year, we’ll feature the student athletes nominated by their coaches as Eastern Cincinnati Conference Athletes of the Week. Congratulations to each award recipient!

Paige Ayler and Kaylie McKenney
Milford -
Basketball
Paige, a junior, recorded a double-double in the win against Fenwick. She had 12 points and ten rebounds. She also took two charges at key moments in the game. She was 7-for-8 from the free throw line and helped secure a 45-30 win for Milford. Kaylie, also a junior, had a game-high 13 rebounds in the game against Fenwick. She also added seven points and some tremendous post defense in the victory. All of this in just 18 minutes of playing time.

Haleigh Gruber
Milford - Sophomore
Diving
Haleigh has been steadily improving all season long and enjoyed a season-best score twice last week. Against Lakota East and West, Haleigh finished second with a score of 165.80, then bettered that later in the week with a mark of 170.50.

Patrick Derrig
Milford - Sophomore
Swimming
Patrick was chosen the Eagles' Swimmer of the Meet following a meet with Turpin last week. He has overcome adversity all season long, and his performance against the Spartans was highlighted by helping the 200 freestyle relay squad to a second-place finish. He also placed fourth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 100 freestyle.

Abbey Sauers
Milford - Junior
Swimming
Abbey was Milford's Girls Swimmer of the Meet against Turpin. Her biggest contributions against the Lady Spartans came in relays where she helped both the 200 and 400 freestyle relay squads to second-place finishes. Individually, Abbey was fourth in the 200 IM and fifth in the 500 freestyle.

Shelby Sullivan
Milford - Sophomore
Bowling
Shelby shot a 105 and 189 against Lebanon and then a 158 and 188 against Turpin. She shot 640 for the week for a solid 160 average.

Hayden Harvey
Milford - Senior
Wrestling
Hayden, a senior heavyweight (285 lbs.), had three pins in his three matches Saturday against Trinity (Louisville), Simon Kenton, and Indian Hill. The two Kentucky wrestlers who he faced were both ranked in the top 12 of their state (one of the two was ranked #7 but at 220 lbs.).

A.J. Kaylor
Milford - Senior
Bowling
A.J. led the Eagles in the squad's two matches this past week. Against Lebanon, A.J. rolled scores of 206 and 245 for a 451 series. Against Turpin, he bowled scores of 189 and 217 for a 406 series. A.J.'s average for the week was 214.
