MHS Girls Cross Country Readies For Harrison Invite

SETTING THE SCENE:   This weekend the girls cross country squad heads to the Harrison High School Cross Country Invitational.  Held at Harrison High School, the flat, fast course will be ideal for a mid-season race.  The ladies placed fourth at their own Milford Invitational last week, an improvement from their eighth place finish in 2015.

 

A LOOK BACK:  The Eagles hosted the Milford Invitational on Sat., Sept. 24th, and with over one hundred girls varsity runners among fifteen teams.  Emma Beck was the first varsity girl to cross the finish from Milford, as she placed 18th in 21.21.  Milford’s top finishers raced with one minute of each other, as Beck was closely followed by a new personal best from Andrea Armstrong (20th, 21.27),  Olivia Loeffler (22nd, 21.29), and a new PR from Marisa Detore (27th, 21.40).  Cymone Horton was 47th, and the second round of Eagles to finish included Trista Whitt (78th), Katherine Perez (81st) and Audrey Moore (85th).

Milford finished 4th overall out of 15 teams, an improvement from their eighth place finish in 2015.  Ursuline, who had four runners finish in the top ten, won the team event followed by Mariemont.  The ECC’s Loveland placed third.

THE WEEK AHEAD:  The Eagles hit the trails again at the Harrison High School Cross Country Invitational at Harrison High School.  The Invite will be held on Sat., Sept. 24th, and the girls varsity team will open the day’s events, racing at 9:00 am.

 

INSIDE THE ECC:  Olivia Loeffler (15th) and Emma Beck (t-16th) remain the leaders for the Lady Eagles among the ECC’s top runners.  Other Eagles who rank in the top fifty including Cymone Horton (25th), Andrea Armstrong (26th), and Marisa Detore (30th).

 

POLL WATCH:  There were no changes in the top five for week four of the Cincinnati Enquirer area coaches’ poll.  Mason once again received the most votes followed again by the ECC’s Kings and Turpin; Lakota West and St. Ursula continued to occupy fourth and fifth for the third consecutive week.  Loveland (2) and Anderson (1) were the only other ECC schools to receive votes in week four.
