Eagles Roll Past Edgewood For Opening Night Win

Posted on: August 19, 2022

Senior QB Austin Hardin threw for 326 yards and tossed four touchdowns, leading Milford to a convincing 42-6 win over Edgewood during Week 1 of the OHSAA football season. Hardin connected with three different receivers for scores, including a pair by junior Reece Davis, who finished with 114 receiving yards.

The game was never really in doubt as the Eagles scored on each of their first three drives to build a 21-0 lead. The first Eagle drive of the new season was capped by a Hardin to Davis 34-yard TD strike. Just minutes later, Hardin went up top again, this time finding Landen Wisbey for a 52-yard bomb. Wisbey added a TD on the ground in the second quarter, bounding in from eight yards out. Hardin threw TD number three with just two minutes to go before the half, when he found Natwan Webster for a 28-yard catch and run.

The start to the second half was more of the same as less than two minutes in, Davis found himself in the end zone once more on the receiving end of a 46-yard throw from Hardin. The last four minutes of the quarter wrapped up the scoring with Edgewood hitting paydirt on a short TD run and Webster bulling in from a yard out for the final tally of the night.

The Eagles put up 452 yards of total offense for the game to just 195 for Edgewood. Webster was Milford’s top ground gainer with 56 yards on eight totes. Toto Luani paced the Eagle D with nine tackles, while Jacob Smith tallied seven as well as two pass break-ups.

Milford continues a season-opening stretch of three straight home games next Friday night, welcoming ECC foe Lebanon to Eagle Stadium Powered by Cullen Electric.
