Girls Lacrosse Looks To Build On Two-Game Win Streak

SETTING THE SCENE: Coming off of back-to-back victories that have evened the team’s record at 2-2 on the season, the Milford High School girls lacrosse team is back on the field this week for a pair of contests. The Eagles’ first match-up of the week is also the start of Eastern Cincinnati Conference play as Milford travels to Walnut Hills on Tuesday night. Then, it’s back home for a Thursday night battle with Seven Hills.

A LOOK BACK: March 28 at McNicholas: Sarah Cardell and Sydney Hogan combined for an astounding 15 goals as the Eagles won their second straight, knocking off McNicholas by an 18-9 score. Cardell extended her Eastern Cincinnati Conference-leading goal tally to 19 on the season with eight scores, while also grabbing five draw controls. Hogan scored seven times and posted a pair of assists. Angel Dominguez led Milford with 10 draw controls, while Ellen Victory added seven. The trio of Dominguez, Victory and Maddy O’Brien each scored once to round out the scoring.

POLL WATCH: Milford did not receive any votes in the weekly area coaches’ poll which encompasses all divisions and is sponsored by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Indian Hill continues to hold the top spot, scoring three first place votes. Second place Mount Notre Dame also earned three top nods, while third place Sycamore claimed the final No. 1 tally. Loveland of the ECC and Mariemont round out the top-five. Other ECC teams in the rankings include Anderson and Kings in a tie for ninth, as well as Turpin in the other receiving votes section. COLLEGE BOUND EAGLE: Class of 2018 member Ashley Costa has already announced her intention to continue her athletic and academic careers on the collegiate level. Costa has committed to Cincinnati’s Mount St. Joseph University where she will compete in both lacrosse and soccer.
