Baseball Places Seven On All-ECC Squads

Led by its dynamic 1-2 starting pitching duo, the Milford baseball team saw seven of its players named All-Eastern Cincinnati Conference honorees for their play during the recently completed 2023 campaign.

Here’s a look at the recipients awards and their season highlights.

Senior Chase Herrell
• 1st Team All-ECC
• Three-time first team All-ECC selection
• Signed National Letter of Intent to continue career at The Ohio State University
• Set school records for most career strikeouts (165) and most strikeouts in a season (69)
• Ranked second in the ECC in strikeouts and tied for fifth with four wins. Posted a sparkling 0.97 ERA over 50.2 innings
• Also hit .346 at the plate with team-highs of eight doubles and two home runs, along with 16 RBI

Junior Louden Hilliard
• 1st Team All-ECC
• Earned all-conference honors for second straight year after being named second team as a sophomore
• Tallied the sixth-most strikeouts in the league with 47
• Held a record of 2-2 with a 2.80 ERA
• Combined with Ayden Vollmer for a no-hitter against Walnut Hills
• At the plate, contributed five doubles, a triple, one home run, 11 RBI and nine stolen bases

Senior Brady Bushman
• 2nd Team All-ECC
• A two-time all-league selection after garnering honorable mention as a junior
• Finished fourth in the league in RBI (24) and was 10th in stolen bases (14)
• Tallied a batting average of .307 with five doubles and two triples

Sophomore Joey Buchanan
• 2nd Team All-ECC
• Was the Eagles’ breakthrough player of the year, finishing in the top-10 in the ECC and second on the team with a .373 batting average
• In just 15 starts, had four doubles, two triples, a home run and 13 RBI

Junior Michael Kirk
• 2nd Team All-ECC
• Posted the third-best batting average in the league, a team-high .408
• Also in the top-10 in the league in both hits (29) and RBI (19)
• Delivered a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 6-5 win over ECC rival Anderson

Senior Ayden Vollmer
• 2nd Team All-ECC
• Appeared in a team-high 11 games out of the bullpen, covering 20.1 innings with a 2.75 ERA
• Picked up a pair of saves, while striking out 29 and holding opponents to a minute .164 average
• Combined with Louden Hilliard for a no-hitter against Walnut Hills

Senior Chris Dawson
• Honorable mention All-ECC
• Picked up a pair of wins over eight appearances, including three starts
• Had a 2.80 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 20 innings
