SETTING THE SCENE: The teams featuring the top two offenses in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference are set to meet this Friday night when Milford travels to Anderson for a Week 6 clash. Both squads are 4-1 on the season, with the Eagles 2-0 in league play, while the Redskins have split their two league contests. The game is also slated to be WCPO Channel 9’s Game of the Week with pre- and post-game coverage on tap.

A LOOK BACK: Milford scored early and they scored often, putting up 50 first half points and ultimately running away from rival Loveland, 71-21 during Week 5 of the 2018 prep football season. The Eagles offense was relentless, scoring on all but its last possession of the game in finishing with what is believed to be a school record for points in a game. Junior QB Hunter Johnson topped 300 yards passing and tossed six touchdowns, while senior RB Cameron Kells finished with 238 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns.

POLL WATCH: The Eagles resounding win over Loveland pushed them into 10^th place in the Sept. 24 Cincinnati Enquirer Division I area coaches’ poll. Colerain is again No. 1, earning all seven first place votes. Moeller, Elder, St. Xavier and Fairfield complete the top-five. West Clermont from the ECC is among others receiving votes.

In the Division II poll, Kings is in a tie for first, with Anderson sixth, Turpin seventh and Loveland the only team also receiving votes. The coaches’ poll is released every Monday at Noon at preps.cincinnati.com/coachespolls.

PLAYOFFS? PLAYOFFS?: The second regular season installment of the OHSAA Computer Ratings which ultimately determines the playoff match-ups across the state have been released. In DI, the top-eight teams in each of Ohio’s four regions will earn a berth in the playoffs. The current top-eight in Region 4 by ranking are: Colerain, Mason, Moeller, Elder, Fairfield, Oak Hills, Milford and Sycamore.

In the Division II, Region 8 rankings, of which much of the ECC resides, Kings is showing as No. 1, with Anderson and Turpin on the outside looking in, in ninth and 11^th respectively.

TRISTATE FOOTBALL HONORS EAGLE PAIR: Prior to each season, area website Tristatefootball.com recognizes the best of the best with inclusion on the site’s three all-area websites. The team’s are decided based on a combination of fan vote and staff input and the 2018 squads feature a pair of Eagles. On the offensive side of the ball, senior TE Connor Foster was selected to the second team, while senior WR Jake Ayler earned a slot on the third team.
